Hair Botox Extra Long
Hair Botox Extra Long is the same deep-conditioning smoothing treatment as our standard Hair Botox, with an extra half hour of salon time for hair that is long, very thick, or both. Longer and denser hair needs more product and more careful sectioning to be treated evenly, and rushing that is what causes patchy results. At Cruz Hairworks in Whitley Bay this is a two-and-a-half-hour appointment, using Cocochoco Professional, which is free from formaldehyde, sulphates and parabens. Results last around three to six months. A consultation and a patch test at least 48 hours beforehand are required, so please call 0191 2521 401 rather than booking online.
More information
Why long and thick hair needs the longer appointment
Hair Botox works by filling the microscopic gaps along each strand with proteins, amino acids and lipids, then sealing them in with heat. Every strand has to be saturated evenly and dried through properly for the result to hold.
On long or dense hair that means:
- More product, applied in finer sections so nothing is missed at the mid-lengths
- Longer processing so the treatment reaches the interior of the hair, not just the surface
- A longer blow-dry and heat seal, particularly through the underneath sections
At £165 for two and a half hours, the extra time buys an even finish from root to end. Booking the standard two-hour appointment for hair that needs longer is a false economy.
Which appointment do you need?
- Hair Botox, £130, two hours — hair up to around shoulder length, or longer hair that is fine to medium in density
- Hair Botox Extra Long, £165, two and a half hours — hair past the shoulders, very thick or coarse hair, or hair extensions worn alongside your own
If you are not sure, we will tell you at your consultation. It is a straightforward judgement once we have your hair in our hands.
What the treatment does
Hair Botox smooths rather than straightens. It contains no botulinum toxin and nothing is injected; the name refers to the plumping effect on the hair fibre. Frizz softens, shine returns and blow-drying gets noticeably quicker, but your natural texture and volume stay. It suits long hair that has been coloured, highlighted or heat-styled over a number of years and now feels dry, dull or unruly.
Consultation and patch test
A consultation and a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment are both required. The patch test takes a few minutes at the salon and rules out any sensitivity to the product. We arrange both when you call.
After your appointment
Keep your hair unwashed, loose and untied for the first 24 hours, then move to a sulphate-free shampoo and a silicone-free conditioner. Long hair holds the treatment well, and most clients see three to six months from it depending on how often they wash.
