Patch Test Policy
At Cruz Hairworks, your safety and comfort are our top priorities. To comply with professional guidelines and ensure the highest level of care, a patch test is required before all technical services involving colour or tinting.
When a Patch Test is Required:
We require a patch test for:
- All new colour clients
- Colour or toner services after a 6-month gap
- Scalp bleach or high-lift blonding
- Root tints, full head tints, balayage, highlights with toner
- Any new brand or formula used on your hair
- Certain treatments or services applied close to the skin (e.g. glosses, tints, or pre-colour scalp applications)
What’s Involved:
A small amount of product is applied to the skin (typically behind your ear or in the crease of your elbow) 48 hours before your appointment. This helps detect any allergic or sensitivity reaction.
The process is quick, non-invasive, and a vital step in your safety.
Why It’s Important:
Reactions to colour products—though rare—can be serious. Patch testing helps prevent allergic reactions and ensures that your service can be carried out with confidence.
Even if you’ve had colour before elsewhere, we may use different formulas or products, so a fresh test is always required.
Please Note:
- We cannot perform your service without a valid patch test on file
- Patch tests must be done in person at the salon
- They must be completed at least 48 hours before your appointment
